Experiencing Brazilian Culture Through Music, Food, and Capoeira
As part of our international cultural exchange program, we welcomed back Hiroyuki Kume and Damela Kume for another special event celebrating Brazilian culture.
After experiencing Brazilian music and capoeira in Term 1, students continued exploring Brazilian culture in Term 2 through English lessons on “Food Around the World,” with a focus on Brazilian food traditions.
During this event, students put their learning into practice by cooking Brazilian dishes. Students in Grades 4–6 worked together to prepare Vaca Atolada, a traditional Brazilian beef and cassava stew, while students in Grades 1–3 made two popular Brazilian sweets, Brigadeiro and Beijinho. The whole school enjoyed sharing the delicious food, and in the afternoon, students had a great time getting active with capoeira.
Students had a wonderful opportunity to experience Brazilian culture and learn about different cultures through music, movement, and food.
